8 reasons are presented that make evolution an impossible idea. The term evolution is used in the general sense applying to the universe beginning at the big bang, and including cosmic evolution of stars and galaxies, the solar system and Earth, and the origin of life and biological evolution.
The questions are taken from the cosmos, from geology of the planet Earth and from biology. The reasons that make Evolution foolish as a viable scientific theory are posed as the lack of any reasonable answer to 8 questions:
Where did the Universe come from? How did nothing explode? How did stars and galaxies form? How come all rocks dated with Carbon-14 give ‘absolute ages’ less than 56,000 yrs? How do you determine the absolute age of a fossil? Why hasn’t evolution been observed? How does specific complex coded information in DNA arise by chance? How did life arise from non-living chemicals by random chance?
There is one fatal flaw in the evolutionary worldview: the second law of thermodynamics. If everything over time gets worse, and not better, evolution is completely false. Ray Comfort expounds this and then talks with college students who believe in evolution and shares the gospel with them.
Watch the above video clip. It is an interview with Mario Joseph, the Muslim priest who is right now a Christian, preaching Jesus all over the world, across many countries. This 34 minute video clip is so touching. It really amuses all of us Christians who had never even cared to see what the Quran, the Holy Book of Islam, talks about Jesus Christ.
You can download the video clip from the above link, in case you need to burn it to a DVD and gift someone. We have converted the main points of this interview into text below for those of you who cannot play or download the video, even after reaching our web page at turnbacktogod.com.
Jesus: God or Prophet
Mario, when he was working in a Muslim mosque as an Imam the Muslim priest, preached that Jesus Christ is not God. Then somebody from the crowd popped the question “Who is Jesus then?”. To know who Jesus really is, Mario went back and read the entire Quran once again, all the 114 chapters, all the 6666 verses in the Quran. When he completed reading Quran, he found that the name of the Prophet Mohammad was only found in 4 places, but the name of Jesus was seen in 25 places. That itself confused him a little. Why does Quran give so much preference to Jesus Christ?
Second thing was that Mario was not able to find the name of any women related with Prophet Mohammad in Quran, his mothers name, wife’s name, children’s name, no nothing was there. In the entire Quran, he could only find one woman’s name and that was Mariam, the mother of Jesus Christ. Even chapter 3 in Quran is titled as ‘Family of Mariam’ and the chapter 19 has the name ‘Mariam’ itself. This made him all the more curious. Quran goes on to say even that Mary was born without original sin and her assumption to heaven is also specified clearly in Quran.
10 Points about Jesus in Quran
Quran, chapter 3 verses 45 to 55 has 10 points about Jesus. The first thing is that Jesus is called the ‘Word of God’. Second thing is that Jesus is called the ‘Spirit of God’. And the third mention is the name ‘Jesus Christ’. Quran says that Jesus spoke when he was very small, almost 2 days old after his birth and that he created a live bird with mud. He took some mud, formed a bird, breathed into it and it became a live bird. This means Jesus can give life. Quran also says Jesus cured a man born blind and a man with leprosy. It also says that Jesus gave life to dead people. Jesus went to heaven. Jesus is still alive and He will come again.
Jesus: A prophet even greater than Mohammed?
When Mario saw all these things in Quran, he was just wondering what Quran says about Mohammad. According to Quran, Prophet Mohammed is not the Word of God, not the Spirit of God, never spoke when he was 2 days old, never created any bird with mud, never cured any sick people, never raised any dead people, he himself died and according to Islam he is not alive and he will not come back. So there is a lot of difference between these two prophets.
Mario’s debate with his Teacher
Mario was never calling Jesus as God, he considered Jesus only as a prophet but after reading all these, he learnt that Jesus is a prophet greater than Mohammad. To clear his doubts, he went to his teacher one day, the same teacher who taught him 10 years in Arabic College. Mario asked him “Teacher, how did God create the Universe?” to which his teacher replied that “God created the universe through the Word”. Then Mario asked again, “Word of God is Creator or Creation?”.
Quran says Jesus is Word of God. If his teacher says that the Word of God is Creator, which means Jesus is Creator, then the Muslims must become Christian. Suppose if the teacher says the Word is creation, that will be wrong as he had already said that everything is created through the Word. If the Word is creation, then how did God create the Word? So he could not say the Word is Creator or the Creation. This made him so mad, he pushed Mario out of his room.
Mario told to his teacher then that Word is not the Creator, not the Creation and that is why Christians say the Word is Son of God. Then his teacher asked Mario that if there is a son for God, Mario must show him the wife of God, as there is no chance for having a son without a wife. To this Mario responded stating some verses from Quran which says God can see without eyes, God can talk without tongue, God can hear without ears, and these are all written in Quran. If that is the case, then of course God can have a child without a wife.
There was a huge argument and in the end, Mario took his Quran, put it on his chest and said “Allah, tell me what I should do because your Quran says Jesus is still alive and Mohammad is no more. You tell me whom should I accept.” After the prayer, Mario opened the Quran, not asking to anyone else, just to his Allah. When he opened Quran, he saw Chapter 10 verse 94. And that says “if you have any doubt in this Quran which I give to you, go and read the Bible, or ask the people, those who read the Bible. The truth is already revealing that.”
So Mario goes on to say that If you ask him who made him a Christian, it’s not any fathers, sisters, bishops, cardinals, and not even Pope. But the holy Quran converted him to Christianity.
Are we Slaves or Children of God?
John Chapter 1 verse 12 says if anyone accepted Jesus, Jesus will give them power to become Children of God. In all the verses of Quran, Allah calls the human beings as slaves and Allah is master. Master cannot love the slave and slave cannot love the master. Even no one would like to be called by someone as a slave. But Quran says you are my slave. But John 1:12 says “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”. So immediately his heart said I need Jesus because I want to be a child of God. And from then he started to call God Daddy. Until then he never knew that he can call God his Daddy.
The prayer Jesus taught us starts with Abbun , our God who art in heaven. Abbun in Arabic means “Our Dad”. Mario goes on to explain his immense joy and pleasure when he calls the creator of the Universe as his own Dad, that truly is an experience which can never be told, but which should be felt by ourselves.
His family tried to kill him
The rest of the above video interview goes on to explain the reaction from his dad and family when they learnt that he got converted to Christianity. They tortured him so hard and even tried to kill him. They did all these because its written in Quran in more than 18 places to fight with the non-believers and in some places in Quran its even written to kill the one who rejects Islam. As his dad and family strictly followed Quran, they went to all the extent of even killing their own son. When he wanted water, his brother came and passed urine in his mouth saying that is the punishment for him for believing in Christ.
Mario’s miraculous escape
Finally, with knife in his hands, his dad asked him to believe in Allah if he wants to live or die if he still needs Jesus. Mario chose to die in Jesus as he was confident that dying in Jesus name can bring him back, just as Jesus rose from his death. When he made this decision, suddenly a light fell on his forehead, an electric shock passed through his veins and he was so energized, from somewhere so much energy was flowing to his body. With that much energy, he pulled the ready-to-kill hands of his father and cried out JESUS.
When he cried out, his dad fell on the ground and there was a big wound on his chest caused by the big knife which he himself was holding. There was bleeding and some kind of foam was coming from his dad’s mouth and he was screaming. Mario could escape from his room when all the family members rushed his dad to the hospital. Mario directly took a taxi and went to Potta. Thus he escaped from his family’s prison.
This incident revealed to Mario that Jesus is still alive and among us, protecting him all through these 18 years after his conversion where there had been so many attempts on his life. His family even did a mock funeral ceremony of Mario and he has his grave in his hometown.
Die in Christ
Mario continues: If you believe in Mohammad and die, as you know, Prophet Mohammad died, people buried him and afterwards, we don’t know where he went. If you believe in him and die, you don’t know where you will go. There are so many Gods in our country, all including the many Hindu Gods, Buddha etc, they lived, created history, they died, people buried them and we don’t know where they went. So if you believe in all these Gods and Goddesses, you wont know what is your future.
But Christ, who died, HE came back. So please have the hope that If you die in Christ, you will come back. So its better, be sure of death and that should be in Christ. To have eternal life, you need Jesus.
Forgiveness of Sins
In Islam, they offer animals for the sins that they committed. In Hinduism, there is birth and rebirth. In Christianity, Jesus took away my sins by his death on Earth and he will be saying to the Heavenly Father that this human is pure because I took away all his sins, he is purified now. So now you can take him to Heaven. So Jesus is my Savior.

Once you become saved and born again, the Bible tells us that we have now become new creations in Jesus Christ. Our slates have now been wiped fully clean, and we have now been given a brand new start in this life if we are willing to properly work with the Lord and allow Him to raise us up in His knowledge, grace, and power.
As I have stated numerous times in my other articles, the next step after you have been saved is to fully surrender your entire life into the hands of God the Father so that He is fully free to lead you into His perfect plan and destiny for your life. You must now be willing to make Jesus Lord over your life, not just your Savior.
You must now become both saved and surrendered if you want to get anywhere in your new life with the Lord.
Making Jesus Lord over your life means that you are now willing turn the reins of your life over to Him, and He will now lead your life into the specific directions He will want it to go in.
You are now no longer your own.
You have been bought back by God the Father at the price of His Son’s shed blood. You now belong to God and Jesus and no one else in this life – which includes yourself, your family, and your best friends!
Once you enter into this full surrender with the Lord, one of the first things God may do with many of you is to take you back in your past so He can begin to clean up any wreckage that may have occurred. Before you can really move forward into the divine destiny that God has in store for you in this life, you first may have to deal with some specific things that may have occurred in your past. The reason for this is because too many Christians are bound up in their past – and as a result, they cannot fully live in their present.
Before you can really start to move forward in your divine destiny with the Lord – you will first have to learn how to let your past fully go.
Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul make two very profound and life-altering statements in the two verses I will give you in this article. For many, these two specific verses will determine whether or not you will be able to fully succeed in the divine call that God has placed on your life.
As a result of the curse of Adam and Eve that is still in full operation on this earth, we are all forced to be born into a fallen and cursed world.
We are all stuck having to deal with the reality of pure evil in our lives through the activity of demonic spirits and bad and evil people who have chosen with their own free wills to live this life out on the dark side.
As a result, every single one of us will get hurt to some degree and to some extent in this life. There is no getting around it. And for many, some of these hurts will end up being extreme and traumatic.
Every minute of every day someone is getting murdered, robbed, abused, or abducted. We literally cannot go one day without some kind of this activity being reported on our local news channels. Jesus Himself said that a certain amount of tribulation and persecution would always come our way in this life.
This is why the Bible tells us that we have to learn how to become good soldiers of Jesus Christ and learn how to put on and apply the real armor of God for our lives.
We have all been born into a war zone as a result of the curse of Adam and Eve – and unless you learn how to walk in the power and anointing of God for your life – some of these torpedo shots may knock you right out of your dvine call in the Lord, if not possibly knock you right out of this life for good through an actual early physical death.
All of us to some degree have issues from our past that have to be properly dealt with before we can really proceed to walk into the perfect plan of God for our lives.
Some Christians are so bound up with some of the things that has happened to them in their past – that they literally cannot get off the couch to start living again, much less ever fully fly into their divine destinies for the Lord.
Many of God’s eagles have had their wings totally broken and decimated with some of the torpedo shots they have taken. Many of them are living on anti-depressants and pain killers because they can no longer handle the stress, pain, and heartache of this life. Before an eagle of God can really start to fly into the heights that God has in store for them in this life – that eagle has got to break off any chains that may be holding them back.
These chains are keeping some of God’s eagles grounded. And for many of God’s eagles – some of these chains are things they are still holding onto from their past.
Jesus has said that He has come to set the captives free – and one of the main areas that we all have to be set free from is some of our wrong thinking that may have arisen out of some of the bad things that may have occurred in our past.
As you will see in the two verses I will list below, Jesus and the apostle Paul are telling us that we have to learn how to let go of our past. Jesus says that anyone who is trying to move forward in his walk and call for God – but keeps looking back – is not fit for the kingdom of God.
Paul says that the one thing he makes sure to do in his walk with the Lord is to forget those things which are behind him and press forward into those things which now lie ahead of him.
Once you put these two verses together, one right next to the other, you get perfect revelation from the Lord on this issue. Bottom line – you have to learn how to let fully go of your past before you can start to proceed full steam ahead in your divine destiny for the Lord.
If you do not learn how to let your past fully go – you will stay stuck and grounded right where you are at, and you will never fully accomplish everything that God would’ve had in store for you in this life.
And that will be an eternal regret that you will carry with you once you enter into heaven and the Lord shows you how much more you could have accomplished for Him in this life had you allowed Him to unchain you from your hurtful past. The choice is yours.
You can either choose to stay fully bound up in your past, continue to throw pity parties and blame everyone and everything for your miseries – or you can choose to rise up and make a brand new fresh start with the Lord by choosing to fully surrender your entire life into His hands – and then work with Him to get your past fully cleaned up so that you can then start to fully live in the present again, and then fly into the divine destiny that He has already planned out for your life.
For many of you who are severely bound up with things that may have occurred in your past – realize that God will give you an ample and reasonable amount of time to get your past cleaned up.
Many of you will need an inner healing from the Lord on certain issues.
Though the two verses I will list below state that God wants you to let go of your past so you can fully fly into what He has in store for you in this life – God will not expect some of you to make this kind of quantum leap overnight, especially if some of your past hurts have been extreme and traumatic.
One of the things I have found out in my own personal journey with the Lord is what happens after you initially enter into this full surrender with Him.
What God will do with you is take you back in your memory lane and bring back up to your remembrance many things that have occurred in your past.
The reason He will do this is so you can learn from your past. He will show you where He was at and where He was not at on certain things.
He will show you some of the good things you did and some of the bad things you did so you can learn from those past mistakes and not repeat them in the future.
He will show you how He has been behind the scenes the entire time, and how He eventually ended up working out some of the bad things for His and your own good with the way some of these things ended up working out.
He will show you the extreme consequences of not fully following Him in this life, and that some of the bad things that may have happened to you were as a result of you making your own decisions without consulting Him first – not being aware of the dangers that were around that corner you were getting ready to turn into.
When God does begin to do this kind of deeper inner work with you – go with Him on it. Let Him show you the truth on many of the different matters of your past.
If you do, then His truth will start to work to help set you free – no matter how bad some of the things may have been in your past. God can fully heal you and break off any past chain if you are willing to believe that He can do it for you.
Some of God’s people are bound up with false chains of guilt as a result of some of the sexual molestations that may have occurred in their dysfunctional families. God can fully break these types of chains off you, no matter how bad or how severe you think they may be. The Holy Spirit is the Master Surgeon. He is the One who will be getting down deep into where these hurts and pains are located. If you are willing to work and cooperate with Him during this inner healing process, He will be able to cut out and completely take away most, if not all of the hurt, pain, and trauma associated with some of these painful events.
I will end this article with some of the specific areas the Lord will target once you open up to Him to get your past cleaned up so you can start to fully live again in your present. But here is the point you will really need to grab a hold of off the wording of these two Scripture verses.
God will take you back in your past for a reasonable length of time so you can directly deal with certain issues and problem areas He will want to target.
But after that time and season has past – you will then need to let your past fully go and concentrate and focus on the present and future as to where God will now be taking you.
There will simply come a day and time that you will have to let your past and all of the hurts from your past completely go.
If you don’t – you will stay stuck, grounded, and paralyzed in your walk with the Lord.
You will never able to fly off the edge of that cliff into the freedom and adventure that God has in store for you in this life unless you first learn how to let your past fully go.
This principle is a basic 101 principle that each and every single Christian has got to get worked into their mindsets.
This basic principle could be one of the major determining factors as to whether or not you ever fly off that cliff into the divine path that God has set up for you to follow in this life.
Many of God’s eagles never learn to fly with the wings that He has given them because they could not get unbound from the chains of their hurtful past.
As a result, many of God’s eagles will lose their one and only chance to leave their mark in this world in the divine destiny that He has set up for their lives.
I believe this is why the Bible says that many are called, but few are chosen.
Many of God’s people are being called to come up into His higher calling for their lives – but many of them are not being chosen because they simply could not let go of their hurtful past.
The choice to learn how to let your past fully go so you can start to fully live again in your present is an individual choice for each believer.
Not even God Himself will override your free will in this area. All God can do is give you the knowledge from His Word that this is what He really wants from you, with all of it being for your own good. And then God will take you back in your past for a reasonable amount of time so you can get all of your loose ends cleaned up and tied up. But after that time is up, God will then expect you to make a very important decision for your life.
Will you now let your past fully go so you can fly into the divine destiny that He has set up for your life – or will you choose to stay stuck and grounded, wailing in the misery of your past?
Each Christian will have to make this choice for themselves. This is why the Bible says that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. You have to learn how to develop right thinking in your thought process with how you think about and view things. And one of the first basic things you will need to learn to think right about is how to fully let go of your past. Learn how to let fully go of your past with the help of the Holy Spirit – and then you can step from the dugout out onto the real playing field where the real action is really at with the Lord!
The Bible Scripture Verses For Letting Go Of Your Past
1. This first verse is coming directly from Jesus Himself. Here is what He has to say about this basic principle:
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)
Notice Jesus says that “no one” who keeps looking back on his past is fit for His kingdom. The words “no one” is an all-inclusive word. It means all of us – no exceptions.
In other words, Jesus is wanting all of us to get a grip on this revelation and get it properly worked into our mindsets so we can all plow straight ahead into the calls and divine destinies that He has in store for us in this life.
2. The second verse is coming from the apostle Paul. Paul really puts this revelation in proper perspective in relation to the big picture. Here is how he puts it:
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12)
Notice Paul starts out the second part of this verse with the words “but one thing I do.” And then from there he goes into the revelation of not looking at what is behind him, but looking and reaching forward for those things which now lie ahead of him.
The words “but one thing I do” is being put in the context of something that he is really making sure that he does on a regular and consistent basis.
This particular revelation is one that you will really have to stay on top of and not let get away from you. It’s very easy to start falling back on all of the bad things that may have occurred in your past, and then use that as an excuse to start feeling sorry for yourself, or to justify some of the irrational things you may be doing.
Just because your parents may have physically abused you does not give you the right to physically abuse your own children. Just because one of your dysfunctional parents may have been an alcoholic does not mean you have to become an alcoholic yourself.
Then notice Paul ends this verse really putting everything in proper perspective when he says that what he is wanting to press forward on is the “upward call of God.”
God the Father has a specific plan and destiny for each person who will come to Him and fully surrender their entire lives into His hands. But you will never be able to press forward and fly into this upward and high calling unless you first learn how to let go of your past.
Both of these verses perfectly and beautifully capture this basic 101 principle.
This particular principle is, without any question, a major, basic, fundamental principle that each and every Christian has to get worked into their mindset and way of thinking in this life. For many, it will be the difference as to whether or not they fully accomplish everything that God has set out for them to do in His perfect plan for their lives.
All of us have a certain amount of baggage that we carry from our past. Some of us carry lighter loads than others.
Some have learned how to let go of their past because they have found out that it will seriously damage their walk with the Lord and what He wants to do with their lives.
They have found that carrying around some of the baggage from their past and constantly dwelling on it will steal their joy and happiness in the Lord.
They have found that it will distort and warp their thinking. These kinds of people have managed to break away from their past so they can fully live and operate in the call of God for their lives.
But many other people have not managed to break free from their past. They are still mired down in the hurts and injustices of their past and cannot seem to get any victory over any of it – either in their thinking or in their emotions.
1. For those of you who are still stuck in your past to some degree – ask God to help you out with all of this.
If you are willing to enter into a full surrender with Him, then He will start to move and help break you free from your hurtful past. Work with the Holy Spirit once He starts to show you the specific areas from your past that He will want to target.
Here are some specific areas from your past that you can expect the Holy Spirit to move in on very strongly if any of these are in your past and background.
Extreme verbal abuse
Being a victim of any kind of crime
Death of a close loved one
Any type of financial disaster
All of these are serious torpedo shots that can knock many of us straight to the ground, especially if some of this has occurred when you were at a young age.
When dealing with people who have been seriously hurt or injured like what you see with victims of any kind of crime or sexual or physical abuse – the first thing God will ask you to do is to fully forgive the person who has wronged or injured you, no matter how bad and how vicious that wrong may have been.
We have another article in our site in the Psychological Issues page on dealing specifically with the hurts you may have suffered at the hands of someone else.
Before God can move to supernaturally heal you from the pain, torment, and wounds that were inflicted upon you in your past – you will first have to be willing to fully forgive this person and let that person go into the hands of God for His vengeance, justice, and payback. God will be righting all of the wrongs ever done to you in this life when everything is all finally said and done.
This is why you can let the worst of your enemies go into the hands of God.
If you are willing to truly forgive this person, then God will move in – and through the power of the Holy Spirit, heal up those wounds so you can no longer feel them. God will not take away the actual memory of the event, but He can take away the actual pain, trauma, and torment associated with the event so you can then get on with the rest of your life and not have to keep thinking about it all of the time.
In this article, a young couple who were faithfully serving God lost their daughter at a very young age. As a result of her early death, neither one of them could get over it, and it then started to hinder their walk with God and what He was wanting to do with their lives.
They finally received a very liberating word from the Holy Spirit that finally set them free so they could start living again in their present.
For those of you who have been severely hurt and wounded in a marriage as a result of infidelity or abuse in the marriage – realize that God can fully heal your mind, your emotions, and your heart on the inside so you can start to fully function once again in the real world and get on with what He has in store for you in your future.
Many marriages have ended up in divorce as a result of a person choosing to marry who they thought was best suited for them instead of asking God for His direct opinion on the matter.
Next time, make sure you let God lead you to the mate of His choice – not your choice! You have no idea how some people can change for the worse in your future – but God can – and that is why you have to rely on His knowledge and wisdom as to who you should be marrying in this life.
For those who have been brought up in very dysfunctional families – realize that God, His Word, and His truth can set you free from some of the warped and distorted thinking that may have occurred in your dysfunctional family. God can show you the errors of their thinking and the errors of their ways so that it does not contaminate you with what He wants to do with your life.
The Bible says the truth will set you free. God will make sure to get the appropriate truths revealed to you so you can fully understand some of the dysfunctional behavior that was occurring in your family, and help separate truth from error so you do not fall victim to the same type of distorted and warped thinking in your own adult life.
2. When God wants us to learn how to let the past fully go, I believe He is targeting more of the bad things in our past – especially the things that will really play with our minds and emotions where our hearts can start to harden up, and our thinking can start to become distorted, warped, and unhealthy.
We all have many good things from our past. We all have a certain amount of treasured memories that we will never forget.
God wants us to keep all of these good memories fully intact. There is no harm in going back down memory lane from time to time with many of the good things that may have occurred in our past. Our past is a part of who we are and who we have become in the Lord. Even some of the bad things in our past have been used by God to shape, mold, and transform us into the kind of person He wants us to become in Him.
What I believe Jesus and Paul are trying to tell us in the above two verses is that we cannot allow some of the bad things that may have happened in our past affect our thinking and our ability to want to live with full intensity for the Lord. You only get one chance in the eternal scheme of things to leave your mark in this world to some degree for the Lord. God has a specific plan and purpose for your life.
He has a list of divine assignments that He wants you to complete for Him before you go home to be with Him for all of eternity.
Do not let a few bad apples and a few bad events – no matter how bad they may have been – stop and prevent you from becoming everything that God is calling you to become in Him.
Jesus says in the Book of Revelation that those who are overcomers in this life will be the ones to rule the nations of the world with Him.
You can overcome any of the bad people and any of the bad events from your past with the divine help of the Holy Spirit. God’s supernatural help can pull you out of any of the bad and negative emotions that may be preventing you from entering into His perfect plan for your life. But like Peter and his story of getting out of the boat to supernaturally walk on water – you will have to be willing to step out of the boat, grab a hold of God’s hand, and work with the Holy Spirit to help get you cleaned up so you can fully and finally let your past go.
Once you are able to let your past fully go – then you will be ready to fly as a true eagle of God into the divine plan that He has set up for you and your life.
The choice is yours. You can either choose to let the hurts, wounds, and pains from your past continue to strangle and paralyze you – or you can choose to say enough is enough and give God a chance and a green light to free you from some of the bad things that may have occurred in your past.
His power and His help is right there for you if you are willing to take His hand and allow Him to bring you up out of it!
This article will follow the last one I just did under the Sanctification Section titled, “Letting Go of Your Past.” In that article, I showed you the extreme importance that each Christian learn how to fully let go of their past if any part of their past is affecting their ability to walk and fly into the call of God for their life.
As Jesus and the apostle Paul said in the two Scripture verses that I gave you in that article – no one who keeps looking back and dwelling on their past is fit for the kingdom of God. Paul says that we have to forget those things which are now behind us and move on and press forward into those things which now lie ahead of us.
As I stated in that article, God will give each person a reasonable amount of time to clean up some of the loose ends from their past. He will give you a reasonable amount of time to get an inner healing from Him on all of the hurts and pains that you have may have experienced from certain situations or from other people.
God will show you the truth on many of the different matters from your past so His truth can start to work to set you free from any chains that may be still holding you captive to your past.
But once God has sufficiently dealt with everything from your past that He wants to deal with – then you will need to turn around, let your past go, and start to walk and fly into the divine destiny that He has set up for you to follow in this life.
In other words – you will have to get back living again in your present, and start walking forward into the new life that God now has set out before you.
Once this has occurred, you will now be ready to start to work very closely with the Holy Spirit as you start to move forward into your divine destiny for the Lord. The Holy Spirit will now let you know what specific qualities He will want to try and work into your mind and personality.
This article, and the additional articles to follow in this Sanctification Section, will let you know some of the the basic qualities that you will need to get worked into your mindset and how you think about things.
As I said in my article, “You Are What You Think” – what you think about and dwell on in this life will make or break you in this sanctification realm with the Lord. You simply have got to learn what kinds of things you are to think about and focus on in order to really be able to fly as a powerful and anointed eagle of God.
In this article, I will give you a very profound revelation that God the Father would like to get worked into your mindset and way of thinking. This revelation is once again coming from Jesus and the apostle Paul.
In the three Scripture verses I will give you in this article, Jesus is telling us that we are to do the following with Him:
Be anxious for nothing
That we are not to have an anxious mind
That we are not to worry about our lives and what will happen tomorrow
I remember when I first saw these verses, I wondered how anyone could learn to be anxious for nothing with all of the bad things that could hit anyone of us at anytime. How can you be anxious for nothing when:
You have just lost your job and you will now have to find another one
You have just come out of a messy and painful divorce and you will now have to start all over again
Your spouse has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and they only have 6 more months to live
You have just caught your spouse cheating on you
You just found out that you son or daughter has become highly addicted to crack cocaine or meth
You have just become the victim of a crime such as a robbery, or an assault
I could go on and on with all of the adverse things that could hit anyone of us at anytime with the full force of a hurricane. As a result of the curse of Adam and Eve that is still in full operation on this earth, we are all stuck with having to battle various types of storm clouds from time to time.
And for some, these storm clouds will be downright vicious, nasty, and traumatic. Every minute of everyday someone is getting knocked straight to the ground with a vicious torpedo shot.
How can anyone learn to be anxious for nothing in the way Jesus would really like from us in the sea of uncertainty that we are all forced to live and swim in – never knowing what is going to happen to us two minutes from now, much less what is going to happen tomorrow or in the days following?
I will first start out by giving you the three verses from Scripture where Jesus is telling us that this is something that He would really like all of us to learn how to do.
I will then end this article with some comments on how we can possibly learn how to get this type of right thinking worked into our mindset and way of thinking – even if we are forced to have to deal with a major storm cloud.
1. Be Anxious For Nothing
This first verse from the apostle Paul really sets the stage on this specific piece of revelation. Here it is:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6)
Paul gives us a major revelation in this verse with how we can be anxious for nothing with the words that come right after he initially makes this statement. Notice he says that we are to make all of our requests known to God in prayer – and if we do, then the peace of God can enter into us to guard our hearts and minds through Jesus. In other words, if you have been hit by a severe storm cloud – go to God the Father in prayer and tell Him exactly what you will need to handle the problem. If you do, then God will hear your prayer loud and clear, and He will then move to help you handle the storm cloud.
Once you know that God is now on the job to help you take care of this severe storm cloud – then the peace of God will start to flow into your thinking and emotions because you know that God will now help you solve the problem or crisis you are now facing.
This is why Paul is using the words that the “peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” will now enter into you to guard your heart and mind from getting all worked up and out of control.
Once you go to God the Father in prayer to ask for His help to handle a serious problem or situation, then His peace will be able to start to flow into you.
And once His peace starts to flow into you, then you will feel His peace starting to calm you down – even right in the middle of the worse kind of storm cloud you could imagine yourself falling into.
I have heard testimony after testimony of people who have fallen into the worse kinds of storm clouds you could possibly imagine – and then all of sudden they would feel the peace of God come into them after they had prayed and committed the problem into the hands of God.
They had no idea how long it would take for God to resolve the problem. They had no idea as to how God was going to handle the problem. All they knew was that God had heard their prayer and that He would now handle the problem for them.
Once this fact was really grabbed by their minds and their spirits, then the peace of God was able to enter into them. And once the peace of God entered into them, then they were able to calm down and be anxious for nothing – exactly like what this verse is telling us to learn how to do. This verse is telling us that the peace of God will actually “guard” our hearts and our minds. To guard means to protect. What this means is that the peace of God can help you be anxious for nothing.
Once you feel the peace of God come into your mind, into your thinking, and into your emotions – then you won’t be able to help but feel anxious for nothing – even right in the middle of a severe storm cloud.
So in one powerful and profound verse, God is telling us to be anxious for nothing – but at the same time He is telling us exactly how to be able to do this – and that is by going to Him in prayer and telling Him exactly what you will need to handle the problem, and then fully commit and surrender the problem into His hands for His direct handling.
Once you have fully surrendered the entire problem into God’s hands, then He will release His peace into your mind and emotions so He can calm you down and help you to be anxious for nothing.
2. Do Not Have An Anxious Mind
This next verse will perfectly connect to the above verse from Paul. This next verse is coming direct from Jesus Himself. Here is what He has to say about learning how to remain more calm in how we look at things in this life.
“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Luke 12:29)
This verse is a major power verse! This verse really puts everything into proper perspective in how we should view this life, and what we should all be striving for and seeking after in this life.
Notice that Jesus is specifically telling us that we are not to be anxious about the basic necessities of our life. Without food or water, we will literally die. Our bodies cannot go very long without proper nourishment. Yet Jesus is telling us not to worry about these basic things.
The key words in this verse is the last sentence where Jesus tells us to concentrate and focus on seeking after the kingdom of God. If we do, then God the Father will make sure to add all of the basic things that we will need to survive and live in this world. Seeking after the Kingdom of God means that you are to seek directly after God Himself in order to establish a good personal relationship with Him – and then seek after His perfect plan and destiny for your life.
If you make God #1 in your life by seeking after Him and His perfect plan and destiny for your life – then God will make sure that you have every little thing you will need to perfectly walk out your call for Him.
In this divine support that you will be getting from the Lord will be all of the money that you will ever need to accomplish His perfect will for your life, all of the good friends you will need, all of the favor you will need so that certain doors and opportunities can open up for you to take you to the next step, and the spouse you will need to walk and share the journey with if it will be in His perfect will that you get married in this life.
This verse from Jesus should be burned into every believer’s memory bank – as it perfectly sets the stage as to what is most important in this life and shows us exactly what we should be striving for and seeking after. This verse shows us that our top priority has to be with God and with what He wants to do with our lives.
If we make the Lord and His perfect will for our life our top priority and goal in this life, then God will give us everything else we will ever need to be able to live and work for Him in this life. Notice Jesus says that “all” these things will be added to us if we seek after His kingdom as our #1 priority.
The word “all” is a maximum intense word. The word “all” means that God will give us everything we will need to live and work for Him – not just some or part of what we will need!
Many Christians are not getting some of their basic needs met because they are in direct violation of this basic spiritual truth. God is not #1 in their life.
They are not seeking after God to get to know Him better. They have not entered into a true personal relationship with Him. They have not fully surrendered their entire lives into His hands so that He can place them into His perfect plan and destiny for their lives.
Notice Jesus starts the last sentence out with the word “but.”But first seek the kingdom of God – and then all of the basic things you will need in this life will be given to you.
Once you fully understand this basic truth and get it properly implemented into your life – then you will no longer have an anxious mind, since you will know that God has your life fully and soundly in the palms of His hands and that He will now be working everything out for His and your own good.
3. Do Not Worry About Your Life
This last verse will perfectly wrap up what the above two verses are trying to tell you. If you no longer have need of having an anxious mind because you are now seeking after God and His perfect will for your life, then this means you can now take the last and final step – and that is not to worry about your life and the direction it is now going since God is now in total control of your life.
God is now the Captain of your ship. God is now at the helm of your ship, and He will now be the One to direct your life in the direction that He will want it to go in.
Once you fully grasp this revelation, then you will no longer need to worry about your life and have an anxious mind – because you know now that God has everything in good stead with how He will be working and handling your life.
The burden and stress of trying to figure everything out has now been taken off your back. God will now be leading you into the specific jobs He will want you to have in this life. He will now be leading you to the spouse He will want you to marry if it is in His perfect will that you marry in this life. He will now lead you to the friends that He will want you to have in this life.
Too many Christians are still trying to work out all of the above issues out of their own flesh and intelligence. As a result, they end up marrying the wrong people, end up taking the wrong jobs, and end up hooking up with the wrong friends.
By the time they reach mid-life, their house of cards all of a sudden comes crashing down on them. Their marriages end up in divorce, and they either lose their jobs, or they feel totally unfulfilled in the jobs they are now working in. They then end up realizing they should have followed God’s divine plan for their lives rather than following their own dreams and aspirations.
If you will follow God and His perfect plan for your life – then much, if not all of the stress, anxiety, and burden can be lifted from your life. As a result, you can then learn how to be anxious for nothing and learn how to relax and enjoy this life with much more vigor and vitality in the way that God would really like.
Study this next verse very carefully. This verse is loaded with major revelation. “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:25-34)
Jesus could not have put it more perfectly than by the way He has worded this longer verse. He gives 3 major analogies with the birds, the grass, and the lilies of the fields. All three of these are being perfectly held up and supported by God the Father. And if God the Father is upholding and keeping these three perfectly alive, then He will do the same for each and everyone of us since we are obviously of much more value to Him than they are.
If you can really grab a hold of this revelation and get it worked into your mindset and way of thinking, then you can achieve what the last part of this verse is trying to tell you to do – and that is to not worry about your life and what tomorrow may bring because you know that God now has every little detail of your life held perfectly in His hands.
When you put all three of the above verses right next to one another – you are receiving a major revelation from God the Father. This revelation is that it is possible to learn how to be anxious for nothing and how not to be overly worrying about anything and everything in this life.
When it comes right down to it, you have very little control over much of what happens in your life. You cannot control the weather, other people, and the outcome of certain events.
When you get right down to it, you have little or no control over most of what happens in your life since you do not know what is going to happen to you in the next two minutes, much less what is going to happen to you in the next day or two. This leaves you with either one of two choices.
You can either learn how to fully trust God with every aspect of your life and learn how to be anxious for nothing because you know everything is totally in His hands down to the very smallest detail of your life – or you can choose to worry about anything and everything driving you and everyone else around you crazy.
As I have said in some of my other articles, we all have to go through various trials and tribulations in this life as the result of the curse of Adam and Eve that is still in full operation on this earth.
And until Jesus comes back to set up His Millennium Kingdom, we are all going to have to put up with certain amount of evil from demons and bad and evil people who will choose to live this life on the dark side.
So how can we really be anxious for nothing when hit by one of these heavier storm clouds as mentioned at the top of this article?
The apostle Paul gives us the answer in the first verse I mentioned above. No matter how bad and severe this storm cloud may be – God, through the power of prayer, can still bring healing, deliverance, or a solution to any problem or crisis, no matter how hopeless the situation may look to you in the natural.
If you have just lost your job, God can lead you to the next new job He will want you to have, and this next new job may end up being better than the one you have just lost.
If you have just gone through a messy and painful divorce and you feel like your life has been totally ruined and you have no where else to go – God can now take over, bring you up out of it, and give you a whole new life with a brand new fresh start.
If you have found that one of your children has become addicted to one of the more heavier drugs – you can go into the gap with the Lord and pray that He move to reach and bring your child out of that addiction.
If you have been the victim of some type of crime, God can give you the grace and the ability to be able to forgive those who have wronged you, and then help you sort out and clean up whatever may have occurred as a result of the crime. The only possible way you can learn how to be anxious for nothing in this life is to learn how to totally trust God with every aspect of your life – and then totally trust Him to help you handle any type of storm cloud that may come your way, no matter how big or how severe that storm cloud may be.
The Bible says that with God nothing is impossible.
If you can learn how to fully trust God with every aspect and detail of your life – then the Holy Spirit will start to release His fruit of peace as one of His 9 fruits right into the middle of your personality.
And once God starts to release His divine peace up into your mind and emotions through the Holy Spirit – then you can learn how to be anxious for nothing, and not let all of the stress and worry of this life eat you up alive and steal all of the joy and peace that you have in the Lord.
For many, this basic revelation of learning how to be anxious for nothing is a real tough one to learn how to get worked into your mind and emotions in the type of world we live in today.
We live in a very fast-paced, high stress, dog-eat-dog type of world. And unless you have your personal faith and trust levels built up in the Lord to some type of appreciable degree, you will initially have a hard time getting this particular piece of revelation worked into your mind and emotions. But if you stick with the Lord and continue to grow and mature in His grace, knowledge, and power – then you will start to get to a point where your faith and trust levels will start to build up in Him. And once your personal faith and trust levels in the Lord start to really grow and build up – then you will find yourself starting to relax more in the Lord.
And once you are able to relax more in the Lord – then the peace of the Holy Spirit will start to enter into your mind and emotions. And once His peace starts to flood up into your mind and emotions, then you can learn how to be anxious for nothing in the way that Jesus would really like.
Again, this is all part of the sanctification process that God would like to get started with each and everyone of us.
And part of this sanctification process will be to get right thinking imparted into your mind. If you can learn how to get this basic revelation worked into your mind, will, and emotions – it will just make your life that much more fun, pleasant, and peaceful in the Lord.
I recently received an email from someone asking how can a Christian really handle negative feelings and emotions when wronged by someone else – especially if the wrong was really evil.
The Bible tells us that God is asking all of His people to live on a higher level than the nonbeliever. The Bible tells us to forgive those who will trespass against us, to turn the other cheek if warranted, to love our enemies, and to do good to those who will deliberately hurt us.
God is so insistent on us being able to forgive those who will hurt us, that He tells us that He will not even hear our prayers and forgive us of our own trespsasses if we are holding any unforgiveness toward anyone else.
However, as we all know through real life experiences, all of the above commands by the Lord are easier said than actually done. How do you handle negative feelings such as anger, bitterness, the desire to seek revenge, and sometimes outright hatred towards someone who has viciously wronged you?
How do you handle and get a grip on these types of negative feelings and emotions when:
Some drunk driver has just killed your son or your spouse
Someone has just abducted and killed your daughter or son
Your husband has been physically abusing you for years in your marriage
Some scam artist has just stolen all of your life’s savings
You have just found out that your spouse has been cheating on you
All of the above scenarios are torpedo shots that can knock anyone of us straight to the ground.
However, how we handle these types of adversities and how we bounce back from them will determine the quality of our lives with what time we still have left.
If you do not get a grip on these negative emotions when they start to try and settle on the inside of you as a result of a vicious wrong – then these negative emotions will start to eat you up alive the same way cancer will eat and ravage a human body.
These negative emotions will steal most, if not all of your joy, love, and peace that you have obtained as a result of your close walk with the Lord.
Some Christians will even lose their faith or their close personal relationship with God as a result of taking this kind of serious hit. They get mad at God. They start questioning God. How could He allow this wrong to occur? Why didn’t He protect them?
When I first made the discovery that the Holy Spirit is alive and well on the inside of each believer and that it was His job to transmit knowledge to us in this life, I started tapping in and asking questions on many different topics and issues.
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit will “teach us all things” and “guide us into all truth.” The Holy Spirit can and will communicate to those who will seek after His knowledge.
I went directly to God the Father on all of the above and asked Him – how can someone possibly get a grip on some of the above scenarios where some of these attacks are so vicious and so evil?
How can you ever forgive someone who has just mugged you or killed a close loved one, much less ever get over the anger, wrath, and bitterness that will settle in on you as a result of this type of extreme trauma?
I believe the Lord has given me very good insight and a bottom line answer on this dilemma. Again, this answer came in the form of a one-two punch – it has two sides to it.
In order to be able to truly forgive someone, and to be able to truly let them go into hands of God where you can then get an “inner healing” on all of the negative emotions that may have built up in you over the course of time, there are two things that each Christian must get a firm and solid grasp on. These two principles are as follows.
The Big Picture
The first thing each Christian must “realize and see” is what I call the big picture. You first have to step away from your problem and see things for the way they really are.
Bottom line – the time that we will all spend on this earth is just a blink of an eye compared to the time that we will all be spending in eternity once we die and cross over. Heaven is for eternity – our life on this earth is just for a very brief moment compared to the eternal time frame that is operating up in heaven. The first thing that each Christian must get a solid grip on when being seriously wronged by someone else in this life is that the person who has viciously wronged you will have to come before God Almighty Himself for a personal judgment once they die and cross over!
The Bible tells us that not only is God our Father – but He is also a Judge. And as a Judge, He will be judging every single one of us when we die and cross over – which includes both Christians and nonbelievers.
When Christians die and cross over, the Bible tells us that we all have to appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ to directly face Jesus for all the good and bad things that we have ever done in this life. This judgment will not cast us into hell since we have all been saved and born again through the blood of Jesus. However, I have a very funny feeling that this judgment that will be rendered upon each Christian will somehow determine what kind of reward and place they will have in heaven.
Per the article I recently did titled, “Rewards in Heaven,” the Bible says that there will be crowns and rewards for those who have done good in this life as compared to those who have done very little with the allotted amount of time that has been given to each one of us in this life. If another person has seriously wronged you and they do not get this sin forgiven under the Blood of Jesus before they die and cross over, then they will have to face God’s judgment for the specific wrong they have done to you!
This is why you can let any evil wrong go into the hands of God.
When everything is all finally said and done, God will be the final judge on all matters, and He will be the One to right all of the wrongs that have ever been done to you – whether it be from another Christian or nonbeliever.
The Bible tells us that “Vengeance belongs to the Lord” – not to us!
It is God’s job and responsibility to right all of the wrongs ever done to us in this lifetime – not ours!
God will be getting even for you!
This is why each Christian can truly let any wrongs go into the hands of God the Father.
You have to believe that God will properly handle each of the wrongs that have ever been done against you in this life.
The Bible says there is a Book that records all of our works and deeds that are done in this life, and God will be judging each one of these nonbelievers according to all of their works and deeds. The implication is that most, if not all of them, will be thrown into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone where the smoke of their torment will ascend forever and ever.
If someone has abused you, or murdered a close loved one – many of these evil people will end up being cast into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone, and that will be for all of eternity! Justice will have been more than done for you in some of these more extreme cases where their final fate and end will be them being cast into the most horrible place imaginable for all of eternity!
When you watch some of these criminal court cases on TV – closure is only partially granted to the victims when the murderer has been caught and successfully tried and prosecuted.
Depending on the state where the trial takes place, the convicted murderer will either get life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty if that state has it.
When the victims of these evil crimes are interviewed after the jury verdict comes in, they all say they feel some relief and closure as a result of this person getting caught.
However, the victims of these types of extreme crimes are now stuck with the task of getting their lives back in order, and they will now have to deal with all of the negative emotions that have settled in and built up in them over this course in time. How they handle these types of negative emotions and feelings will determine the quality of their lives from here on in.
If they do not get a proper grip on these intense negative emotions and some kind of inner healing on them – they will spend the rest of their earthly lives with a lot of their love, joy, and peace either completely gone or seriously diminished in the Lord.
So the first thing each Christian must grab a hold of if faced with this kind of worst case scenario is that even though the criminal just got caught, tried, convicted, and properly sentenced – that is just the beginning.
Where the real judgment will occur is when that person dies and crosses over to meet his Maker – God Almighty Himself!
This person will then face their ultimate and final judgment for the serious wrong they have inflicted upon you, and this judgment may then possibly get them thrown into the real hell for all of eternity! All of the above is what I call the big picture. This is the real reality from God’s point of view and perspective.
Once you fully grasp and realize that God will eventually be judging each person that has seriously wronged you in this life – then you can truly let the matter go into His hands.
It’s finished as far as you are concerned! It’s a done deal!
This is why God tells us in the Bible to cast all of our cares and burdens upon Him, because it His job to take complete care of them for us and to right all of the wrongs where they do exist.
Sometimes God will right the wrong for you in this lifetime. The person who has wronged you will reap the consequences of his actions, and God will make sure that those consequences hit him full force while he is still living down here on this earth.
Other times, this person will not face the eternal consequences of their actions until after they die and they come before God for their own personal judgment. Some people will literally get away with cold-blooded murder in this life. The police or the criminal justice system will never catch them.
However, their days are numbered in this life, and as soon as they die and cross over, they will all have to face God Almighty Himself for their ultimate and final judgment.
It always amazes me that so many criminals think they can just live out this life doing whatever they want, and think they can actually get away with it because they have managed to evade the law for such a long period of time. Boy are they going to be in for a big surprise when they die and cross over and find out what is really waiting for them on the other side! As a Christian, you have to step back and look at this big picture when you have been seriously wronged, and realize that God will handle each one of these wrongs, and that true and final justice will eventually be granted to you – either in this life or the next to come.
However, even if you have grasped and believed in all of the above, you are still left with one more problem. You now know God will eventually be righting all of the wrongs ever done to you when it is all finally said and done.
However, how do you get rid of the negative feelings that have settled in on you as a result of experiencing some of these vicious wrongs?
You know God does not want you carrying around feelings of hate, anger, wrath, bitterness, and depression.
You keep telling yourself that you are not going to allow these types of feelings and emotions to have any part of you – but no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to get any victory over them.
You can still feel these negative emotions rolling around down in your soul and spirit. These negative emotions and feelings continue to rob you of your joy, peace, and love for God and others.
You have lost your zest for life and you just can’t seem to get it back – no matter how hard you try, no matter how many pep talks you give yourself, no matter how much you pray to God and talk to others about it, and no matter how many counselors you see.
You feel like you are carrying around a 50-pound anchor around your waist.
Everything is a chore.
Nothing brings you any happiness anymore.
You hardly ever smile anymore.
These negative emotions are eating you up alive on the inside. You feel like you are a walking dead man, a zombie.
You are really trying to forgive the father who has sexually abused you during your childhood years – but you just cannot seem to really do it no matter how hard you try.
These negative feelings are like a “yoke” – they just seem to keep sticking to you on the inside. The Bible talks about the “yoke of bondage.” These negative feelings have you bound up and you cannot seem to break them off you.
So what is the answer? How do you break these negative feelings off of you?
There is only one way and that leads us to the second principle of this one-two punch and that is the right cross – the power of the Holy Spirit!
The Power of the Holy Spirit
We as human beings only have a certain amount of natural strength, not only within our natural physical bodies, but also within our souls and spirits where our intellect and emotions reside.
Each person only has a limited amount of mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical strength at their disposal.
Some people can bounce back from adversity better and quicker than others. We have all seen that. However, we all have our personal breaking points, no matter how strong we think we are.
We can only lift so much with our physical bodies, no matter how many steroids a bodybuilder may take.
We all have different levels of mental and emotional strength. Some are stronger in their minds than others. We see this mental strength in many of our professional athletes.
Some of these athletes can do and accomplish things a normal person cannot do – not only because they are physically stronger, but also because they are mentally stronger. They do not give up as quickly as someone else would.
How many times have we seen professional athletes amaze us when in the heat of extreme adversity, they plow through on sheer will power and mental strength to achieve total victory?
Some are also stronger in their emotions than others. We can see this in the different ways people react to severe tragedy. Some people can bounce back quicker and they do not hold any grudges against anyone for the tragedy. Life is too short for them to dwell on the negative aspects of the tragedy, and they would prefer to press on with the rest of their life and let the past go. Others cannot do that as easily.
They cannot let the past go. They do not have the emotional strength to get a grip on the negative emotions that have settled in on them. Before they know it, they are mired down into a depression, and they are holding grudges against the wrongdoers and are mad at everything and everybody in the world.
They cannot get over the negative feelings they are experiencing and before long, they have lost all of their joy and zest for living.
Too many Christians are in this second boat. They have been hit with some serious torpedoes and they cannot seem to get back up to start living again. The negative emotions that have set in on them are literally killing them!
Many in the medical profession believe that negative emotions can help lead to cancer and other various diseases and illnesses. Not only can these negative emotions kill you mentally, emotionally, and spiritually – but they can also lead to diseases and illnesses that can physically kill you.
To those Christians who cannot seem to get back up and get over the evil wrongs done to them by others, who do not have enough mental, emotional, and spiritual strength within their own makeup to work these negative emotions out of themselves – there is only one answer for them. And that one answer is they simply have to go to God the Father in prayer and ask Him, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to remove all of the negative emotions that are eating them up alive.
They have to tell God that they do not have the strength within their own emotional and mental makeup, and that they need His supernatural power to pull all of these negative emotions and feelings out of them.
If you go direct to God the Father with a sincere request to help you out with this kind of a dilemma – God will help deliver you from the bondage of these negative emotions and feelings. God will literally do “inner spiritual surgery” on you to help pull these negative emotions out of you. This is a supernatural work done by the Holy Spirit Himself. Since the Holy Spirit is the One who lives on the inside of you – He is the One who will actually do the inner spiritual surgery to pull all of these negative emotions out of you.
However, you first have to go direct to God the Father and ask Him to release this kind of deliverance power to you, which He will do through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is our Helper. He is there to help us out on anything that we may need His help on.
And one of the things that He loves to get involved in is the transformation-sanctification process to make you into a better and more holy person – both mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
When you ask God to take these kinds of negative emotions out of you – it can sometimes happen very quickly – possibly within seconds, minutes, days or weeks.
Or it could take a bit longer, perhaps spread out over several months, which would be more of a progressive type healing. God is the Surgeon, so let Him decide how He wants to work this inner surgery and how long He wants to take to do it with you. Once this inner spiritual surgery has been completed by the Holy Spirit, you will no longer “feel” these negative emotions.
You will still have full “memory” of the anger you may have felt against someone who has wronged you, but you will no longer feel that anger. God has miraculously and supernaturally removed the “feelings” of that emotion from you. This is what is called an inner healing.
So many Christians are mired down in depressions as a result of some vicious torpedoes that have hit them. If they would only simply approach God the Father in sincere prayer and ask Him for His power to heal them on the inside.
He would be more than happy to meet them all the way and clean them up on the inside.
But these Christians are not getting this type of deliverance from God simply because they have never approached and asked Him specifically for this kind of deliverance.
The Bible says “You have not because you ask not.” Many times, God will not move in with His deliverance power on your situation until you first ask Him to do so in prayer. Sometimes it really is that simple!
Too many Christians are running to psychologists, psychiatrists, and counselors, not to mention the drug store for their favorite tranquilizer or anti-depressant medication. The number one selling prescription drug for the year 2001 was anti-depressant medication! And I have to believe there were many Christians in that boat. We as Christians have the greatest Counselor, the greatest Teacher, the greatest Deliverer, the greatest Healer living right there on the inside of us – the Holy Spirit!
The Bible calls Him the “Counselor.” And not only are His services completely free, but the Holy Spirit is God and Lord Himself, and as God, He has maximum power to deliver you from any problems that can come your way – whether they be mental, emotional, spiritual, or physical.
The Holy Spirit can also get at the root of your problems – especially when you get into the emotional realm of your being. He will pull these negative feelings out at the roots so they do not keep coming back on you. Anti-depressants just cover and mask the problem. They never get at the root of the problem.
The same with doctors and counselors. They can talk all day long about your problem – but they do not have God’s full supernatural power to literally pull these emotions out at their roots to bring about a full inner healing on these negative emotions. Sometimes talking about your problems to counselors or others will help release a part of these negative emotions – but only the supernatural power of God can actually get at the real root of these problems and pull it all out at that root.
Neither you, the doctors, or any type of drug can do this for you – only God can!
The above principle also applies to trying to forgive someone who has seriously wronged you. You know God wants you to forgive this person, but your feelings are not lining up with what is coming out of your mouth.
You tell God you have forgiven this person, but yet you still feel the anger and bitterness against this person.
What you do in this case is to tell God, with a confession out of your mouth, that you will forgive this person – even if your do not really feel like you have forgiven this person within your own feelings and emotions. God will take and accept the confession out of your mouth that you have truly forgiven this person, even if your feelings are not lining up with this confession.
But then you go to part two and ask God to take these negative feelings of unforgiveness out of you, and He will do it just like He will do with your other negative emotions.
All of a sudden, after a certain length of time, you will feel it on the inside of your heart and spirit that you have now truly forgiven this person and that you are no longer holding any grudges or feelings of anger, bitterness, or resentment toward this person. You have truly let this person go – knowing that their fate and the consequences of their actions are now fully in the hands of God. You are now free and you can now start to fully live again.
The Bible tells us that no one is fit for the kingdom of God if they keep looking back on their past and dwelling on it.
The apostle Paul says that he forgets those things that are behind him and continues to press forward for the things that now lie ahead of him.
The Bible tells us that Jesus has come to set the captives free – and one of the greatest areas of captivity for many of us is in our own minds.
The Bible tells us that a man is as he thinks. In other words, you can become what you think. Your thought life, what you think about and dwell on, can make or break you in this life.
This is why the Bible tells us that we are actually transformed by the renewing of our minds. You have to learn how to develop right thinking in your mind and thought process.
I will end this article with some good Scripture verses on all of the above points. Some of these verses have already been mentioned in some of my other articles, but for the sake of this article and the specific points being talked about, I will go ahead and state these verses once again due to the extreme importance of each of them.
The Scripture Verses
For those of you who are really battling with yourself on being able to get over the hurts and injustices of your past, really study and meditate on the following verses. Jesus has already told us in His Word that His truth will set us free. But before His Word and truth can start to work to set you free – you first have to know exactly what those truths are and then seek to understand them, and from there, get them implemented into your way of thinking. These divine truths have to become a part of your right thinking in the Lord.
The Scripture verses I will list below are giving you Jesus’ truths on this particular subject matter. These divine truths can work to set you free in this realm if you will do your part and assimilate these truths into your way of thinking in this life.
1. The Judgment of God
Here are several good verses showing us that we will all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ after we die and cross over – no exceptions! Notice this first verse says that “every secret thing” and that “every work,” whether it be good or evil, will be brought before God for His judgment.
Thus anyone who has unjustly wronged you in this life will have to answer to God when they face Him for their own personal judgment if that wrong has not been confessed and forgiven before they die and cross over. I believe all of these verses are literal interpretation and they mean exactly what they are saying!
“For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether it is good or whether it is evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)
“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13)
If more people knew about these kinds of verses and the seriousness of each of these verses, more people would think twice before deciding to unjustly attack or hurt another person.
2. Letting Go of the Past
Here are two very good verses on God wanting us to let go of the things in our past and to continue to press forward to accomplish His perfect divine plan for our lives. The first verse is from the apostle Paul and the second verse is coming direct from Jesus Himself.
“… but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
But Jesus said to him, “No one having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)
Life is simply way too short to be wallowing in the hurts and injustices of your past. God will be righting all of the wrongs ever done to you in this life. This is why you can fully let go of your past and start fully living again in your present.
3. You Are What You think
Here is a short, but very powerful Scripture verse telling us that a man will become as he “thinks” in his heart. If you think and dwell on happy and positive type thoughts, then you will become a happy and positive type person. However, if all you do is think about and dwell on the negative side of this life, then you will become a negative and depressive type person where people will not even want to be around you. Here is the verse:
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)
The Bible says that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. We have to learn how to develop right thinking in our thought process. Our thought process does not control us, we control it! We can choose to decide what we want to think about and dwell on.
4. Sowing to the Flesh
According to the Bible, the people who have unjustly wronged you in this life are sowing to the flesh. They are sowing to the dark side of their personality as versus sowing to their spirits, which is their good side, when they unjustly wrong others for their own gain and profit.
This next verse specifically tells us that if these people sow to their flesh with these types of unjust actions against you, then they will eventually “reap corruption” – which is death. This verse tells us that God will not be mocked and they will literally reap what they have sown against you. Here it is:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” (Galatians 6:7-8)
This verse gives us another very good reason to be able to let anyone go into the hands of God who has severely wronged us in this life. Sooner or later, they will all reap what they have sown. And for some of them, it will be eternal punishment in the most horrible place imaginable.
5. Unforgiveness and Loving Your Enemies
Here are three good verses telling us that God wants us to forgive all of those who have ever wronged us, and for us to be able to love them, to do good to them, and to pray for them. This is a tall order, but it is possible with the help of the Holy Spirit guiding us in this.
“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you …” (Matthew 5:44)
This next verse tells us that we are not to hate anyone and that we are not to take any type of vengeance against someone who has wronged us. This verse also tells us that we are not to hold any grudges against anyone else and that we are to love others as we would love ourselves.
“You shall not hate your brother in your heart … You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:17)
This next verse really warns us of the consequences of not fully forgiving others who have trespassed against us. When someone has unjustly wronged you, they have trespassed against you. In this verse, God tells us that if we do not forgive those who have trespassed against us, then He will not forgive us when we trespass against others.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:14-15)
And if we do not receive God’s forgiveness for our trespasses down here on this earth, then we will have to face Him for judgment for these trespasses when we die and cross over to meet Him face to face. This is a very dire and strong warning from the Lord in that we are not to carry any unforgiveness in our hearts toward anyone, no matter how bad they may have wronged us.
6. Vengeance Belongs to the Lord
For those of you who have been seriously wronged and are contemplating some type of payback, some type of vengeful act against that person – look very closely at this next verse.
This verse tells us that we are not to repay evil with evil. In other words, God is telling us that any type of vengeful act that we try to take against someone who has wronged us will be considered an evil act on our part. And as such, we will either have to face His judgment in this life or in the next life for taking this vengeful act.
We are not allowed to take the law into our hands. Vengeance and payback belong to the Lord, not to us or anyone else who would like to try and get even for you!
I know there are some people who say they would kill others if anyone ever harmed any of their loved ones. But if you pay back death with death, you will have to answer direct to God Almighty Himself for your act of vengeance. This verse tells us to do just the opposite – to pay back evil, to overcome evil with goodness. God will be the final Judge, Jury, and Executioner on the evil someone may have done to you. This is His territory – not yours!
Here is a major power verse every single Christian really needs to grab a hold of if they have ever been seriously wronged or injured by the evil acts of another.
“Repay no one evil for evil … live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves … for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore if your enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him a drink … Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:17-21)
Again, do not tempt your eternal fate with God the Father by attempting to take the law in your own hands if someone has viciously wronged either you or a close loved one. The Bible says that murderers will not be entering into the kingdom of heaven, and that may include you if you decide to try and take another person’s life as payback for something they may have done to either you or someone else in your family.
7. Judge Not
These next four verses are again strong warnings from the Lord that we are not to judge others, that judgment belongs to Him, and that we will all eventually be judged by God for all of our transgressions that have not been forgiven under the Blood of Jesus before we die.
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged …” (Matthew 7:1)
“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” (Luke 6:37)
These next two verses are from the apostle Paul. He lays it out very clearly and very simply that we are to judge nothing before the time of God’s personal judgment on all of us. Paul says that God will bring to light all the hidden things of darkness when this judgment occurs and until it does, we are to go on living our lives trying to resolve what we can with our neighbor and live in harmony as best we can with them.
“… but He who judges me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the heart …” (1 Corinthians 4:4-5)
“But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ … So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.” (Romans 14:10-13)
Again, God the Father could not make things any more clear than by the way He has worded all of these verses. All of these verses are giving us major warnings in that we are to fully forgive all of our trespassers, and that we are to let everyone go into the hands of God who has seriously wronged us in this life.
Until it is our time to depart from this life, each and everyone of us will have to put up with a certain amount of evil wrongs coming from other people. We have all been hit with these evil wrongs and will continue to be hit with them until we finally cross over to be with our Lord and Savior for all of eternity.
People are imperfect and many of them will choose to live their life out of their flesh – where their only concerns in this life is to get as much as they can, while they can, and not caring who they run over and hurt in the process. Some of these people are living their lives on a lower level than animals, as their only goals in this life are to satisfy all of the lusts of their flesh.
Until God finally prunes out all of these bad apples and we finally get the New Heaven and New Earth as foretold to us in the Book of Revelation, each one of us will have to handle these evil wrongs as they come to us. For those of you who have taken some real shots in your past or possibly your present – just remember the big picture.
God will eventually be judging all of these people for all of the wrongs they have ever done to anyone, including what they have personally done to you.
Until then, do not let the actions of a few bad apples ruin the rest of your life with what little time you still have left. Life is really way too short and you only have one chance to live this life to its fullest for the Lord. Make the most of what time you still have left.
God will be evening out all of the scores when it is all finally said and done. There will eventually be true and final justice for all.
We also want to point out to you that we have another article in our site that will take you deeper into the trials and tribulations that can come our way in this life and why God will allow some of these trials to come into our lives in the first place. The title of this other article is – “Trials and Tribulations – the Testing of Your Faith.“
This article will take you much deeper as to why God will allow trials, and sometimes severe types of trials, to come into our lives, even when we are doing everything right in our walks with Him.
Due to the very trying times we are now living in with most of the world economies still basically in bad recessions, I thought I would do this article for some of you who may really be battling with the Lord on some of the real heavy adversity that may have just struck you and/or your family.
In our article titled, “Trials and Tribulations – The Testing of Your Faith,” we give you all of the main reasons and all of the main verses from the Bible as to why every single one of us will have to face and battle a certain amount of adversity in this life – with absolutely no exceptions to this cold hard fact and reality.
If by chance you have come across this article before that one, you might want to read that article after you have read this one, as this will really help in giving you a proper understanding as to why even God Himself has to allow a certain amount of trials and tribulations to occur in our lives.
In this article, I just want to concentrate on one major point that will occur to many of us when we are faced with some of these heavier trials.
And that point is there will come a time when you will have to decide if you are still going to continue to stay the course with God and continue to walk with Him on the divine path that He has set up for your life – or if you are going to continue to stay mad at God and from there, let a major grudge form out against Him as a result of the severe adversity that has just struck you.
As we all know, some Christians when faced with a heavier type of trial, will initially get very mad at God. They will ask Him –
“How could you possibly do this to me?
Where was my protection?
I have been loving You and serving You all of these years, and then all of a sudden you let a heavy torpedo like this come ripping through my life?
How could You possibly allow something this evil and this bad to come against me like this? You could have easily stopped it but you didn’t.
As we have said before, it is very easy to have high levels of faith and trust in the Lord when everything is going good and great, but let a heavier type of storm cloud come ripping through someone’s life and then all of a sudden their high levels of faith and trust in the Lord can take a major nosedive.
For many, their initial reaction will be one of major anger and possibly rage.
You know God has the power and the ability to stop any kind of bad and evil thing from coming against you, but now all of a sudden you are stuck with having to deal with the reality as to why God would allow something like this to come against you in the first place, especially if you are walking in a good full surrender with Him and you are walking in His perfect plan and destiny for your life.
How do you keep from getting mad at God when:
You have just lost your job, your house, and your entire life’s savings
Your 6 year old child has just been abducted and killed by a sexual predator
Your spouse has just been killed by a drunk driver
Your mother has been left totally paralyzed from a bad car accident
You have just lost your marriage due to the infidelity of your partner who you had been married to for 30 years
I could go on and on with some of the heavier type of adversity that could strike anyone of us at anytime due to the Adamic curse that is still in full operation on this earth. As we all know, it is only by the grace, mercy, and protection of God that more of us do not get these types of heavier trials coming into our lives.
But the cold hard reality is this:
A certain amount of people, both Christians as well as unbelievers, are going to get some of this heavier type of adversity coming into their lives.
As Christians, we then have to get a real grip on this when one of these do come our way, and make a conscious decision one way or the other as to whether or not we are going to let this trial affect our personal relationship with the Lord and with what He is doing with our lives in the perfect plan and destiny that He still has set up for us.
Some Christians will not get mad at God. They will take it all in stride. They will not lose their faith or their personal relationship with God, and they will just keep on moving forward with God in full control of their lives.
However, there will be other Christians who will not have this type of response to the severe tragedy that has just struck them. They will start wrestling with God. They will get mad and furious at Him for allowing this kind of tragedy to come into their lives in the first place.
For many who will have this second kind of response, I actually think God will have no problems with that kind of response right at the onset due to the initial trauma of the event.
For many, it will be an initial, knee-jerk reaction. Our emotions will get the better of us for a time and in those emotions will be major anger at God for allowing this tragedy to come into our lives in the first place.
However, what you will find is that you will not be able to stay mad at God forever. You will find that you will be wallowing in too much negative energy and this negative energy will start to affect both your thinking and your physical health.
You will find sooner or later after all of the wrestling you have done with God that you will come to a point where you will have to make up your mind one way or the other.
Do I continue to stay mad at God and from there, let a real live grudge form out between Him and me and then walk away from Him? Or do I let it go, continue to fully trust God with my life, and get back in the saddle again and keep moving forward in the divine destiny that God has already set up for my life?
Sooner or later you will have to make this very important decision, as you will not be able to stay on the fence post forever with the Lord.
At the time I am writing up this article, I am 56 years of age. Over the years, I have watched how different Christians have handled the heavier types of adversity that have come into their lives.
On the one side, you had the Christians who quickly got over the trauma of the event. They chose to stay close to the Lord and not get mad at Him and pull away from Him.
They chose to believe that God was going to take care of this trial for them and turn it around and make something good come out of it, even though they had no idea as to how He was going to do that for them.
Then you had others who got so mad at God, they could not get over it. They knew God had the power and ability to stop the trial from coming in on them in the first place, and they thus could not accept the fact that He actually allowed it to hit them. As a result, not only did they choose to get mad at God, but they chose to continue to stay mad at Him.
From there, I watched how “grudges” would form out against God. And once that deep grudge would form out against God, these people would then start to pull completely away from Him.
They would stop going to church. They would no longer pray or talk to God. If you tried to talk to them about God, they wanted no part of the conversation.
Then over a period of years, I saw how God would chase after these people trying to get them to come back to Him. Jesus has already told us in His Word that a good shepherd will always go after a single sheep that has strayed.
But no matter how hard and how heavy God would chase after these people, they still kept turning Him down again and again, as they could never get over that bad and intense grudge they were holding against Him. This is why I have decided to put the word “grudge” in the title of this article, as this grudge ended up forming out a severe block and shield between these people and God.
And then over the years as a result of pulling away from God and ignoring His strivings to try and get them back, many of them lost their good marriages, their good paying jobs, and from there, their mental state just continued to get worse.
They became very unhappy and were depressed all of the time. And not only were they still mad and furious at God, but they became mad and bitter at the rest of the world as well, including with some of their own close friends and family members.
Many of them ended up on anti-depressants because they lost all of their joy and zest for living since they pulled away and disconnected from the one Person who could give them that joy and zest for living – the Lord Himself.
I learned that these grudges, if not dealt with and pulled out within a reasonable period of time, could form out an actual stronghold. And once that stronghold formed out in that person’s mind and thinking, that was when they lost all desire to want to draw close to the Lord again.
To those of you who have been hit with a real severe torpedo shot, especially with the times we are now living in, let me give you 13 very important verses so you can see how important it is that you never let these kinds of grudges form out between you and God and from there, start to cause you to want to pull away from Him.
Again, if you are having some intense wrestling matches with the Lord over a severe tragedy that may have just struck you, that is alright. I believe God will have no problems with that kind of initial reaction at the onset. But sooner or later, you will find yourself getting tired of staying in that kind of intense, wrestling match with the Lord.
It will start to drain you and from there, it can then start to affect both your mental and physical health. You can only stay in these kinds of intense wrestling matches for a certain period of time with the Lord before they start to wear you out both mentally and physically.
After that, you will come to realize that you will have to get off the fence post and make a decision one way or the other.
Are you going to get back in the saddle again and stay the course with the Lord, letting Him still have full control of your life and allowing Him to continue to lead you on the divine destiny that He still has set up for your life?
Or are you going to let your anger and wrath get the better of you, and from there, let a nasty grudge form out between you and the Lord, thereby preventing you from wanting to stay close to Him and continue on in your walk with Him? Sooner or later, you will have to make that decision.
To help you with this, here are 13 very good verses that are all going to tell you something very specific. I will first list out these verses, and then I will point out to you what they are trying to tell us, as God has set up a little pattern in each one of these verses. Here they are:
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)
For thus says the Lord God to the House of Israel: “Seek Me and live … Seek the Lord and live …” (Amos 5:4,6)
“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore!” (1 Chronicles 16:11)
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
“… and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” (Deuteronomy 4:29)
“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart!” (Psalm 119:1)
“For it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” (Hosea 10:12)
“With my soul I have desired You in the night, yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early …” (Isaiah 26:9)
“Then they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul …” (2 Chronicles 15:12)
“If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.” (1 Chronicles 28:9)
“O God, you are my God; early I will seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.” (Psalm 63:1)
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” (Psalm 42:1)
“… and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Here is the little pattern that God has set up in each one of these verses. If you will notice in each one of them, God wants you to be the one who will seek after Him. He wants us to be the ones who will initiate making direct contact with Him. In each one of these verses, it says we are to be the ones to seek after God. And if we do, then He will let us find Him.
God can obviously initiate the action with us anytime that He will want to do so. But with the way He is wording these specific verses, you can tell that He is letting all of us know that He wants us to initiate making direct contact with Him.
The reason I am listing these verses in this article is to show you the reverse can also occur off these verses. Notice in verse #10 that it says if you forsake God, that He will cast you off forever.
If you decide to get mad at God and start holding a grudge against Him, then you are going to pull away from Him. And if you start to pull away from the Lord, then you will not be making any attempt to make any kind of direct contact with Him like the above verses are telling us to do.
And if you stop trying to make direct contact with God, then you could be in danger of God pulling back on you, as these verses are telling us that God wants us to be the ones to make the attempt to make direct contact with Him.
Again, I believe God will chase after you for awhile, but where you could get yourself in major trouble is off the verse where the Holy Spirit will not strive after a man forever.
If you keep ignoring God and all of His strivings to try and get you back, then He could decide to quit chasing after you. And if He does, then you will be left to wallow in your own self-pity, misery, depression, and unhappiness. And that is not a place you want to be in – either with yourself or in your own personal relationship with the Lord.
This life is way too short to get worked into that kind of a bad, negative, mental state. Sooner or later, you will be leaving this life and entering into the most glorious place imaginable.
And when you do, all of the trauma, pain, and hurt of the tragedy you have been going through will all fall off you like a heavy sack of potatoes. It will all be gone the second you enter into heaven. And then heaven will be for all of eternity – this life down here is just for the blink of an eye compared to the eternal time frame that is operating up in heaven. If you are one of the ones who are on this fence post with the Lord as a result of some kind of severe tragedy hitting you full force, the best advice I can give you is to make a conscious, free-will decision that you will not pull away from the Lord, that you will continue to stay on the path that He has set up for your life, and that you will not give up.
Even if your hurt and wounded emotions will not be lining up with this kind of statement with the Lord – just override those hurt and wounded emotions for now, and just give God a good, conscious, free-will decision with your own mind that you will continue to stay the course with Him. That is all God will be looking for at this point.
From there, over a period of time, the Holy Spirit will then move into your damaged and wounded emotions and He will then start to heal them up so you do not let any type of bitterness and anger start to get the better of you.
You can do this very early on in a severe tragedy if you just give God the green light that you will stay the course with Him and that you will not pull away from Him no matter what happens from this point on.
Make this decision based upon your head knowledge of God and the Bible. Do not make this decision based upon your wounded and hurt emotions. The people who end up pulling away from God are doing this because of their hurt and wounded emotions. They are not relying upon their good head knowledge of God and the Bible.
That is why the Bible tells us that God’s people will perish and go into captivity without having knowledge. Again, here are these two very important verses on this issue:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
“Therefore My people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge …” (Isaiah 5:13)
When people pull away from God as a result of letting a grudge form out against Him, they are actually going into captivity just like this second verse is telling us. This is why you can never lose your faith, your belief, and your trust in the Lord – no matter what life, hell, or the devil may try and throw your way.
This is why it is extremely important that all Christians get built up in the Word of God, so they will have all of this head knowledge to fall back on when any type of severe adversity does come against them in this life.
Now, more than ever, we all need God in our lives. This is not the time to stay mad at God and continue to hold any type of grudges against Him.
And not only do we need God in our lives, but we need Him controlling it and running it, as most of the economies across the world still have not really rebounded and no one still knows for sure if and when they will. People are losing their houses, their jobs, and all of their life savings – and now, more than ever, we need God’s divine help to get through these very trying times.
For those of you who are tuned into the prophetic with the Lord, you can smell this a mile away that there are forces working right now behind the scenes trying to arrange a one world government.
The Bible tells us that a real live antichrist will eventually be coming to rule this entire world. And if he will be coming to rule this entire world, then a world stage and platform is going to be built for him so he will be able to do this.
Again, to those of you who are tuned into the prophetic with the Lord, you can “see” and “smell” this occurring behind the scenes, not only with our own government at this time, but with some of the other governments across the world as well, especially with some of the governments in Europe.
Again, this is why it is not the time to get mad at God and pull away from Him. If we are living in the end times as prophesied out of the Bible, then we are all going to have to stay very close to the Lord and be guided by His Holy Spirit so He can help us navigate through some of these rougher waters until the rapture occurs and we are finally taken off this earth.
Remember – life is way too short to continue to stay mad at God, and from there, let an actual grudge form out between you and Him. No matter what has been thrown your way by way of a bad trial, just know that there are reasons for everything, and if God will not give you those reasons down here, you will more than likely be told what they were once you get up into heaven.
Until then, do not let any type of adversity, especially any type of severe adversity, cause you to pull away from the Lord and totally disconnect with Him.
Look what happened to both Paul and Job. Both went through very severe adversity and both ended up staying true, loyal, and faithful to the Lord.
Neither one of them pulled away from the Lord. Job had to have one of the worst trials of all time and he refused to let it pull him away from the Lord. We have to do the exact same thing if we ever have any of these heavier trials come our way in this life.
I will leave you with one last verse that really says it all when dealing with the storm clouds of this life. Here it is:
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35)
This is the type of verse you have to ground on and believe in if you are ever forced to have to deal with a heavier type of storm cloud in this life. We can never, ever let anything separate us from our Lord and Savior.
Just remember the extreme barbaric death Jesus went through to get us back to Himself and His Father. If Jesus was willing to die for us, then we should be willing to die for Him if circumstances should ever arise where that may have to occur.
Again, we ask that you go to our other article titled, “Trials and Tribulations – The Testing of Your Faith,” if you would like to see why God has to allow a certain amount of trials and tribulations to come everyone’s way in this life from time to time. In this article we give you all of the main Bible verses on this topic, along with all of the main reasons as to why every single person will have to face and engage with a certain amount of storm clouds in this life.
One of the most frequent type emails we keep receiving on a regular basis is people writing in asking how they can get victory over specific sin areas they are still are engaging in. When many of them write in, they have been battling certain types of sins for many years.
They would get a little victory with the Lord, but then several months later they would always fall right back into the same sin area.
By the time they usually write into us, they are beat up, worn out, tormented, and some of them are even afraid of losing their salvation with the Lord. They feel God is going to eventually give up on them and cast them off forever since we do have verses like this in our Bible.
What we always tell these people is to not give up, that they have not lost their salvation with the Lord, and that God will not give up on them as long as they stay in the battle and do not give up on Him.
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit will not wrestle with a man forever, but this verse is also telling us that He will wrestle and try to get someone cleaned up and delivered as long as that person does not give up and throw in the towel on the Lord. I want to use this article to go a little deeper into this subject matter for those of you who have been engaging in different sin areas where you are having a very hard time in getting pulled out and cleaned up by the Lord.
What I have learned over the years with the Lord is that He will roll up His sleeves and get right down there in the trenches with you to help deliver you and get you pulled out of these sin pits.
I have seen God do this so many times with so many people, that I have a slang expression for it when I see it occur – and that slang expression is “trench warfare.”
God will get right down in there in the trenches with you, and He will stay with you for as long as it will take to get the job done and get you pulled out and delivered. And sometimes these types of deliverances will take years to get done, not weeks or months.
Many of these people are also afraid to reach out for help from other Christians for fear they will be judged and criticized for being in these sin areas for as long as they have. As a result, they keep a lot of this to themselves.
Many judgmental type Christians will start bashing these type of people, as they think they should not be in these types of sin areas for as long as they have been in them.
But again, what I have seen from first hand experience with the Lord, is that some people will need a certain amount of time to get fully delivered with the Lord, and many of these types of cases are deliverances that are more slow and progressive, which means they will not happen overnight.
Here are some of the specific sin areas that I have seen where the Lord dealt with these people over a certain period of time, and in many of these areas that period of time was years, not months or weeks.
Drug usage including pot
Some type of criminal activity
Heavy addictive gambling
Psychics – we have seen some Christians get hooked on going to psychics
Verbally and/or physically abusive behavior toward their loved ones
I know some people will not consider cigarette smoking an actual sin, but the reason I have listed it with the other sin areas is that this vice is so deadly, that it can eventually kill you. I have also seen God move so many times on people who smoke, that I have to include this vice in this type of an article.
As we all know, internet pornography is also a major sin area that many Christians are still engaging in these days, including many pastors. Last statistic I heard was that 50% of all Christian pastors are still hooked on internet pornography, along with 50% of the men, as well as a certain percentage of the women.
If you look very closely at all of the above sin areas, the one common thread they all have is that they can all lead to very addictive behaviors where you keep repeating the same behavior over and over again.
They all bring with them a certain amount of physical and mental stimulation, a certain amount of arousal and pleasure, and that is why it is so hard for some Christians to pull completely out of these types of sin areas.
Our own natural will power and emotional strength is limited and that is why some people will need the strength and power of the Holy Spirit Himself to finally break these kinds of addictive behaviors off of them once and for all. If you try and do this solely out of your flesh, you may not be able to succeed unless you have above average will power, which some people do have.
Some people can simply use their own natural will power and simply pull out of these addictive type sins once they receive the conviction of the Holy Spirit upon them.
But others will not have that kind of strong will power and as a result, they will pull in and out of these sin areas trying to break free from them. Just when they feel they have finally broken free, something else will happen and they will then fall right back into the pit. They will wrestle with both themselves and with God trying to break free from these different sin areas.
To those of you who are still in the trenches, still wrestling and battling with these types of addictive behaviors, I want to use this article to try and give you some basic information and knowledge that will really help you finally get total victory over these different types of heavier sin areas. And again, I want to reiterate that God will stay with you as long as you will stay with Him. Do not ever give up if you are caught in one of these kinds of heavier sin areas.
Even if it takes a matter of years, the Lord will stay with you and finally deliver you if you just will stay the course with Him and not give up and throw in the towel and walk off His playing field.
1. Bible Verses on God’s Mercy and Patience
The first thing you are going to need, especially if you have been in one of these sin areas for quite a long period of time, is to realize that God the Father is a very patient and merciful God.
Many Christians are afraid of God the Father due to all of the heavy judgment action they have read about in the OT. But if you read the rest of the verses about God the Father in the OT, you will also see that He has a very loving, merciful, tender, and patient side to His personality.
Though God is obviously capable of great wrath and anger if provoked, the Bible also tells us that the Lord is slow to anger, which means it does take quite a bit to get Him to blow.
God does not get as easily mad as many of us do when we lose our patience and tempers down here on this earth. God has a much longer fuse than we do, and this is why you should never be afraid to approach Him if you need help in this kind of an area.
Again, I have seen God the Father show great patience and great mercy when working with people who have fallen into some of these kinds of addictive behaviors. I have seen Him get right down there in the trenches with these people and stay with them for years if need to be to finally get them delivered and cleaned up once and for all.
If you are one of those Christians who are battling some of the above sin areas and you have other judgmental Christians ripping on you and telling you that you are on your way to hell, do not listen to them. As long as you are being open and honest with both yourself and the Lord, He will continue to stay with you and work with you until He gets you fully delivered from the specific sin area you are caught up in.
Many times when God delivers someone, it will be a more slow and progressive type deliverance. God can obviously do the quick and instantaneous type deliverances whenever He wants to, and those are always spectacular and mind-blowing when we do see them. But these slower and more progressive types of deliverances are just as spectacular and mind-blowing, if not possibly more so, as the battle is longer and much more fierce and intense as versus a quick and sudden type healing and deliverance.
Now here are some very important Bible verses you will need to have so you can see that God the Father really does have this patient and merciful side to His personality.
“… But You are God, ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abundant in kindness …” (Nehemiah 9:17)
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.” (Psalm 103:8)
“But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.” (Psalm 86:15)
“Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness …” (Joel 2:13)
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” (Psalm 145:8)
“The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting …” (Psalm 100:5)
“For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him … But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him.” (Psalm 103:11,17)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” (Galatians 5:22)
Especially notice in three of the above verses it says that God is slow to anger. And if God is slow to anger, this means He has a great deal of patience within His personality.
So not only does God the Father have maximum patience in His personality, but the Holy Spirit Himself also has maximum patience in His personality. And the Holy Spirit will be the One who will eventually deliver you, as the Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is the One who will actually put to death the deeds of the body. If you were not aware of this specific verse from our Bible, here it is:
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:13-14)
Notice this verse specifically says that the deeds of the body will be put to death “by the Spirit.” And all of the heavy sin areas mentioned above are definitely “deeds” of the body that God would like to put to death once and for all.
Now here are some key definitions on what the word “longsuffering” means from some of the different Bible Dictionaries:
Patient endurance and steadfastness under provocation
Forbearance under ill-will, with no thought of retaliation
Patience, endurance, steadfastness and forbearance
Forbearance under suffering and endurance in the face of adversity
Ability to endure persecution and ill-treatment
Notice the key words of patience, endurance, and steadfastness. This means that God will have patience with you, along with staying steadfast with you and enduring the trial with you.
In other words, God will stay with you for as long as it will take to get the job done, which in this case will be to get you fully delivered from the heavy sin area you may be caught up in. Again, if there are any of you out there who have been battling with some of these heavier kinds of addictive behaviors and you are afraid that God is going to abandon you and cast you off forever, do not let that kind of fear get a hold of you and keep you from moving forward with God.
Demons love to put that kind of fear on people so they think they may have lost their salvation with the Lord – but do not fall for it!
If you keep working with God, God will keep working with you. And sooner or later you will get the victory with the Lord if you do not give up and walk away from Him.
2. Be Led by the Holy Spirit as to What Steps to Take to Break the Addiction
This next step is going to be very, very important.
Depending on exactly what you are involved in and how long you have been involved in it, the Holy Spirit may start to give you some specific steps He will want you to take on your end. And if you start to receive those specific steps from Him, it would be our very strong recommendation that you listen to Him and do exactly what He is telling you to do, as each one of these steps will be a major part of your healing and deliverance.
This step right here is why many Christians do not get a quick deliverance from the Lord – because they are not taking the initial steps He is wanting them to take.
Depending on what you are addicted to, God may want you to work with a medical doctor, a Christian counselor, or some type of support group to help get you over the hump.
Many people who are hooked on drugs, alcohol, gambling, and pornography sometimes have to get together with a good Christian counselor and/or possibly a good Christian support group depending on how heavy their addiction is. They may need the help and support of other Christians to help them get through it.
What God will do is work through these other people to try and help you out. This it is why it is extremely important that you take whatever steps the Lord is leading you to take. Do it God’s way right at the beginning and you will then get to the finish line much quicker.
God the Father is the Master Strategist and He knows exactly what He is doing and exactly how to handle each one of these kinds of heavier situations.
3. Be Willing to Enter into a True Sanctification Process With the Lord
One area we always lead people to when they write in on these kinds of dilemmas, is to lead them into a true sanctification process with the Lord. We have one very special article alone on what the sanctification process is all about with the Lord and how to enter into it with Him.
I cannot tell you how many emails we have received from people over the last 4-5 years who did the special prayer that was in that article and then were willing to work with the Lord in the areas that He was wanting to work with them on.
Over a period of time, they all said that God changed their personalities for the better and that they would never go back to the old person they used to be before they started this sanctification process up with the Lord.
Sanctification with the Lord is truly the thing that will cause major and dramatic changes to occur within your personality over time with the Lord – and it will also help you get victory over any sinful habits you are still engaging in, like some of the ones mentioned above at the top of this article.
Once you give the Lord a full, solid, green light to start this sanctification process within you, He will then enter you right into it. And from there, both He and the Holy Spirit will start to work with you on exactly what it is they want to add into your personality, and exactly what it is they want to remove from your personality so you can then become the true sanctified saint that God is wanting you to become in Him in this life.
Here is the direct link to this article if you would like to enter into this holy process with the Lord. The title of this article is “Sanctification“ and it is the very first article listed in our Sanctification Section. Again, if you really want God to pull you out of any heavy sin areas you are still engaging in, it would be our very strong recommendation that you also add this sanctification process in as part of your daily walk with the Lord.
This one step alone could completely turn the tide for you and get you fully delivered from your heavy sin area, since you are giving both God and the Holy Spirit a full, solid, green light to change you from the inside out!
As I said at the top of this article, I have seen God get down into the trenches with so many people in the different sins areas they were engaging in, that I have labeled it “trench warfare” when I do see it occur with Him.
I know some Christians will look at the above sin areas and will think to themselves that there should be no excuse for any true Christian to still be wallowing and engaging in these types of heavier sins, especially since we all now have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us.
However, though we all know that these types of activities are definitely sins in the eyes of God since the Bible tells us so, what happens with some people in these types of sin areas is that a mental stronghold can form out in that person’s mind and thinking.
Also, with drugs and cigarettes, a chemical dependency can occur where the body itself will become addicted to the behavior.
And once that stronghold forms out, either in the mind and/or the body, it will take the power of the Holy Spirit to finally break it off them for good. The Bible tells us that the anointing of God will break the yoke of bondage.
And these types of heavy sin areas definitely have a yoke of bondage to them.
The Bible also tells us that our spirits and flesh will war against one another, and all of the above sin areas are sins of the flesh. Combine the war that goes on between our spirits and our flesh, and then the fact that some people will have a strong mental stronghold form out once they start to engage in some of this kind of heavier activity, and you will now have a person who will need a full scale deliverance from the Lord.
One man I know hooked on pornography took 5 years to get a full and complete deliverance from the Lord. And the Lord stood completely by His side for those 5 years until it was finally broken off him.
Another girl I used to work with was horribly addicted to cigarettes for over 25 years. She asked God for His help to break it off her and it took a good 10 years before it finally got broken off her for good.
What would happen is that God would move in on her in waves. She would be off the cigarettes for 1-2 months, but then all of a sudden she would fall right back into it. But finally at the 10 year mark, God made another strong move on her and this time she really grabbed a hold of His power and finally broke this bad habit off her for good. She has not had another cigarette for over 4 years now.
What got these people eventually delivered was their tenacity and their willingness to stay with the Lord, no matter how long it was going to take to break free from their addictions.
And in each one of these cases, God stayed with them the whole time and continued to work with them until they finally broke free from their addictive behavior. God did not bail out on them and leave them to fend for themselves. He stayed right there with them the whole time until the victory was finally secured.
When you see God stay that long with someone, especially on a heavier type of sin area, this is where you really see the love, mercy, and patience that God really has not only with them, but with the rest of us as well, since the Bible tells us that He is no respecter of persons.
Again, if there are any of you out there who are still caught up in any type of addictive sin area, and you are finding yourself having a very hard time in breaking completely away from it, try taking steps #2 and #3 above to see if that will not turn the tide for you.
I cannot stress enough how powerful the sanctification process is with the Lord. If there is one thing that is going to change you from the inside out, including breaking off these kinds of addictive behaviors, it will be allowing the Lord to enter you into a true sanctification process with Him.
Once you give God the Father and the Holy Spirit a full, solid, green light to begin this sanctification process on the inside of your being, the Holy Spirit will waste no time in starting to change you at a pace that will be very comfortable for you to handle. God will not overwhelm you or push you past your own personal limits in this realm. And once the Holy Spirit starts to move on the inside of your being to change and transform you into the kind of person God wants you to become in Him, nothing will be able to stand against His power and might, including any type of addictive behavior you may still be caught up in.
The Holy Spirit can take out any type of bad and negative qualities you may still have operating in your personality if you will just give Him your permission to do this type of work on the inside of your being, and then be willing to work with Him on it once He starts it up with you.
I know the above two steps may sound a bit simplistic and almost too easy, but I have seen them work over and over again with so many people with the Lord. Once again, if you are caught up in any one of these heavier type of sin areas, and you have not been able to break free from them using your own natural strength and will power, try giving the Lord a chance. Here are the 3 basic steps you will need to take to get God to move in on you and deliver you from your specific stronghold areas.
Simply cry out to the Lord and approach Him in prayer, asking Him to deliver you from the specific sin area you are still caught up in, as everything always starts out with a good, strong, heartfelt prayer to the Lord.
From there, go the extra step and ask God to enter you into a true sanctification process so the Holy Spirit can begin the job of changing and transforming you from the inside out into the kind of person God wants you to become in Him.
And once you put those two special requests before the the Lord, make sure you obey any specific directions and instructions you may receive from the Holy Spirit.
Once you fully surrender the entire matter into God’s hands, God will then start to move to help you out and get you eventually delivered. What I cannot tell you is exactly what steps God will be asking you to take for Him, and how long it will take before the final deliverance comes. Each of these cases will be unique and different.
That is why we as Christians should be very careful on how harshly we judge other Christians who are still engaging in these types of heavier sins.
As long as we know they are really working with God to break free from their addictive behaviors, we should also pray for them as well. Some of these people will also have demons attached to them as a result of being in some of these heavy sin areas for too long, and that could also be compounding the problem and making it harder for them to pull out of it. Bottom line on all of this – God can fully deliver anyone from any kind of heavy sin area they are still caught up in if that person will just properly approach the Lord in good heartfelt prayer and from there, be willing to be guided by the Holy Spirit as to exactly what steps they will need to take on their end.
Our God is still in the deliverance business, and there is nothing that He cannot break someone free from if that person will just work with Him on it and do exactly what He tells them to do. It really is that simple and that easy.
